Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study was to develop a valid and reliable nomination scale (MUST-AB) for identifying middle school students gifted in mathematics. A descriptive survey model, one of the quantitative research methods, was employed for this purpose. Renzulli Three Ring Conception served as the theoretical framework for the study. An initial item pool was generated within this theoretical framework, which was then reviewed by a panel of experts in the fields of mathematics and giftedness. Based on their feedback, some items were removed, some were edited, and others were retained as they were. Following a pilot study to ensure clarity and precision of the items, data collection commenced with the remaining 104 items. Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) was conducted on data from 399 children, resulting in a 28-item scale with a single factor. Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) was then performed on data from 280 children, confirming the construct. The reliability study yielded a Cronbach's Alpha value of 0.99 for the scale. The relationship between MUST-AB and students' mathematics achievement, TONI-3 scores, and a science-related Candidate Report Inventory was examined, revealing correlations between MUST-AB and each variable. Significant differences were observed when comparing scores of students with typical development to those with Bilsem (specialized science high school) enrollment. Upon analysis of the findings, it was concluded that the developed scale is a reliable and valid measurement tool, consistent with previous studies' findings.
