Abstract (EN)

In this study, it was aimed to investigate the relationship between orthorexia nervosa and perception of perfectionism, body image and perceived parental attitudes. The sample consists of 344 people between the ages of 18-65 who voluntarily agreed to participate in the research. The Informed Consent Form and The Socio-demographic Information Form were used. The Orthorexia Nervosa Rating Scale (ORTO-11), The Multidimensional Perfectionism Scale (MPS), The Body Cathexis Scale (BCS) and Abbreviated Assessment of Perceived Parenting Attitudes in Childhood (S-EMBU-C) were also benefitted. The relationship between the variables was evaluated with Pearson Correlation Analysis and Multiple Linear Regression Analysis. When the relationship between orthorexia nervosa and the main variables of the research were investigated; a negative significant correlation was found between perfectionism and perfectionism sub-dimensions with orthorexia nervosa score. No significant correlation was found between body image and perceived parental attitudes sub-dimensions with orthorexia nervosa score. Self-oriented perfectionism subdimension predicted orthorexia nervosa; body image and perceived parental attitudes subdimensions did not predict orthorexia nervosa. In conclusion; perception of perfectionism and its subdimensions are positively related to orthorexia nervosa. At the same time, self-focused perfectionism tendencies predict orthorexia nervosa. Therefore, it would be beneficial to take the perfectionism perception into consideration in psychosocial studies to be conducted on orthorexia nervosa.
