Abstract (EN)
Throughout history, the subjects that inspire art and artists have constantly changed over periods and conditions. One of the subjects that inspired the artist was sports. Arts and sports can look very different in terms of meaning and expression in the world. However, when examined in detail, it turns out that this is not the case. The common characteristics of both fields have sometimes enabled them to proceed with the same perspective. Art and sports, and especially Traditional Sports, not only increase the interaction between countries in the world, but also serve as a source of inspiration for each other. We see that the arts and sports performed in a country actually reflect all the characteristics of that country to its people. Particularly in the 19th and 20th centuries, sports were used as the subject of painting by many artists with different techniques and methods, combined with their own understanding of art. Apart from aesthetics and the sense of pleasure, which are important elements of art, we see that elements such as balance, rhythm and composition are also valid for sports. Thanks to these common elements, the rapprochement of art and sports has become possible. Another reason why Modern Art deals with sports within the traditional structure is to present a critical perspective on the traditional structure and traditional thought in the world. Artists in our country, in the same search, have tried to reflect traditional elements in their works, without ignoring them. In this context, it is aimed to discuss the reflection of Traditional Sports on Turkish Painting in our country. How the relationship between art and sports developed from the Ottoman Period to today's Modern painting was evaluated through the period, artist and artist's works.
