Architectural program of the Ottoman sultan complexes (Bursa and Edirne example)

Ottoman Empire social complex arragements, which set an example for the construction activities reflected in the areas ruled by the ottoman empire and created through complex scructures connected with each other in various ways, are architectural fictions that are structurally identified with the cities where they are located. The examples of scructure groups, which are placed in a timeframe of 150 years and examined in a period chronology that have the characterization of the early ottoman age in the literature in paralel to this aspect, gain an additional importance with the modellings of the sultan's duties as a founder. Examples of the sultan complex which are incorporated into the study text with having these two elements, can be observed in the cities of Bursa and Edirne where the first capitals of the Ottoman Empire in urban terms. The construction activities since Ottoman Empire's initiation were planned with regards to certain political, culturel and religious motives. Throughout thesis, these constructions are collectively named as complex, emerging above mentioned three motives. Ottoman era complex gained functionality in an orderly fashion with interrelated building scructures, being a determinant for adorning the regions where they placed and for contrbuting their development. As neing the first sample constructed in the name of sultan in Bursa, Orhan Mosque and complex could be a beneficial evidence to these arguments.
