Abstract (EN)
Aim: The aim of this study was to determine the validity and reliability of the Osteoporosis Awareness Scale Turkish Form developed by EUYSON Choi et al. in 2008 to assess awareness of osteoporosis. Methods: The sample of this study consisted of health care workers in primary health care units in Karsiyaka district of Izmir province (n = 346). Data of the study were collected between 25.03.2019 and 31.05.2019. The content validity of the scale was evaluated with the opinion of 5 experts. In the analysis frequency / percentage, independent samples t test, correlation analysis, Cronbach Alpha Reliability oefficient, exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis were used. Results: The Cronbach Alpha Reliability Coefficient was found to be 0.94 for whole scale 0.86, 0.82, 0.88, 0.88, 0.85. for the subdimensions. The item total score correlations were between 0.497 and 0.739 (p <.001). To test stability of the scale test - retest analysis was used. As a result of test-retest application, no significant difference was found in terms of scale total and sub-dimensions (p>0.05). The results of the exploratory factor analysis showed that the scale explained 66.16% of the total variance and The factor loadings of the items are between 0.50 and 0.82. As a result of the confirmatory factor analysis, the factor loadings of the scale are between 0.64 and 0.82 and Cmin / df = 3.384 GFI = 0.85, NFI = 0.83, CFI = 0.88, and RMSA = 0.08. The results of exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis showed that the data are compatible with the model and confirmed the five-factor structure. Conclusion: The results show that the Turkish version of Osteoporosis Awareness Scale has high validity and reliability and can be used in future researches. Key words: Osteoporosis; Awareness; Validity and Reliability
