Abstract (EN)

In this study which was prepared as Department of Mechanical Enginnering MSc. Thesis, it is examined how the high chromium-molybdenum white cast iron material behaves in terms of mechanical properties such as hardness, abrasion resistance under various heat treatment and cooling conditions and how the micro structure changes. High-chromium-molybdenum white cast iron samples heat treated under 800, 900, 1000, 1100 and 1200 oC and cooling applied in air, salt water and oil. The hardness of the samples were determined in terms of Rockwell C using the macro hardness tester and the abrasion resistance was measured by an arranged test apparatus. Metallographic studies of the samples were performed by using optical microscope, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and XRD methods. As a result of these studies, N4.1 (1100 oC, 1 hour, air cooling) sample is the hardest, N4.2 (1100 oC, 3 hours, air cooling) sample has the highest abrasion resistance, N1.3 (800 oC, 6 hours, air cooling) sample was found to be the softest samples. Abrasion resistance increased by %44.
