An application study to improve material management process in the housekeeping departments at hotels

Continual environmental conditions have caused a high pressure on enterprises to reduce costs and try to increase affectivity and productivity all activities. Main function of enterprises is production. Enterprises use various materials at production process depends on the characteristic of production. As a result of increasing productivity of materials reducing costs and not wasting the sources show us the importance of material management process. Today, material management concept covers very wide process, from the beginning of raw material until presenting these to consumers as product. At hotels which are affected by environment conditions, consumers main expectation is a cleaning. At hotels cleaning activities are carried on by housekeeping departments. These departments, at the same time, carry the responsibilty of these most of materials, which are used at the hotels. Variety of these materials, which are used by housekeeping departments, cause to some negative applications that emphasize all important issues. The main aim of this study is improving the material management process, which is under the responsibility of housekeeping departments, as analysing flow charts. For achieving this goal, at first chapter housekeeping department; at second material management process; at third course flow charts have been presented. At last chapter a practical study has been worked, which are based on this thesis case.
