Abstract (EN)
The current study aims to reveal how and to what extent working in noise impacts the quality of life of people working at noisy environments and the connection between the severity of tinnitus and the mental state of the working individuals by utilizing the "Tinnitus Disability Inventory" and the "Beck Depression Scale". The study sample comprised 100 employees, male and female, aged between 24-60, at least primary school graduate, who did not have any hearing loss complaints, or any known otological-neuro-otological complaints that chronically impair mental or general body performance. The principle of voluntariness was considered when selecting individuals for the sample. The variation in scores between the survey results was analyzed statistically. The effect of tinnitus, determined by the Tinnitus Disability Questionnaire scores, on the individual's psychosomatic state was examined. In accordance with the purpose of the research, a simple linear regression analysis was performed to examine the effect of Tinnitus Level on Depression Level and the findings are presented. Upon examining the results of the established regression model, it was found that the Tinnitus Level was a significant and positive predictor of the Depression Level (B = 0.575, p < 0.001). When this finding is examined, it shows that a one-unit increase in the tinnitus level increases the depression level by 0.575 units. When the validity of the model is examined, the regression model explains 60% of the variance (R² = 0.606) and shows that it has a high explanatory power. The significance of the model was supported by ANOVA results (F(1,98) = 150.577, p < 0.001).
