Abstract (EN)
The identity and self that a person possesses are the elements that make him or her exist and become an individual in society. The person's identity and self is evolving and changing throughout his or her life. Factors such as events, cultural change and migration experienced by the individual bring differences to the identity and self of the individual. In the novels covered in the thesis, migration has been seen as a cause affecting human life, causing identity acquisition and self-seeking. Questions such as whether identity is acquired from birth, whether the individual has the ability to change his identity, the effect of migration on identity acquisition and self-formation are wondered. The answer to the mentioned questions is the primary purpose within this thesis and the answers will be searched within the departments. Taking into account the opinions of experts from different disciplines, the similarities and differences of identity and self concepts in interdisciplinary dimension will be tried to be determined and the traces of their connections to culture will be kept. The concepts of identity and self are not only within literary science; sociology, psychology and philosophy have become the subject of research and discussion in other basic fields and have been discussed from different perspectives. The main reason for this is the fact that all the basic areas mentioned above are undeniable in the person's identity acquisition and self-acquisition which is a general phenomenon and socio-cultural fact in human history, is an active factor that takes place in these basic areas. This can be observed in the case of female characters in the research objects examined. While this situation can be observed on Armağan the character of Blue Birds on the Forehead, the Wings Broken Birds work shows the search for identity and self in the characters of Elsa and Susy. In both works, the identity and self-seeking of female characters, their achievements, and even their confusion, are noticed in some points. In this context, it can be assumed that migration is effective in the process of finding oneself, becomes a cause and a factor, and forms the basis for development and change in the flow of the life of the individual. With this assumption, it can be considered that the effort of the individual or character to find themselves, the process of acquiring identity and gaining their self can be observed in the context of migration.
