Abstract (EN)

Today, increasing human population and global climate change put serious pressure on groundwater resources in order to meet the need for drinking water. Because water is one of the most basic requirements of living life and the development of economic and social activities of countries largely depends on clean and sufficient water resources. Water resources are under a constant threat of pollution due to natural processes and human activities. In recent years, researches have been initiated for the solution of these problems we face with our drinking water resources and pollution control and are gradually increasing. In this study, which is one of these researches, some physical and chemical parameters of 4 drinking water wells whose coordinates were determined in Özalp district of Van were analysed and evaluated according to the Regulation on Water Intended for Human Consumption (ITASHYM, TSE 266 T) and compared with the results previously analysed by Van Water and Sewerage Administration General Directorate (VASKİ) to Van Public Health Laboratory (VHSL). After the water quality study was completed, parameters such as pH, odour, turbidity (NTU), conductivity (µg l-1), sulphate (mg l-1), ammonium (mg l-1), arsenic (µg l-1), chloride (mg l-1), boron (mg l-1), iron (µg/l), colour (co-pt), nitrate (mg l-1), nitrite (mg l-1) were analysed and the status of the water in the relevant wells was determined and included in the literature. It was determined that the results of Van Public Health Laboratory and our's were in parallel with each other. Furthermore it was concluded that the values of Boron and Arsenic and some other parameters were high in almost all wells both in winter and summer seasons and the water in these wells should not be consumed as drinking water.
