Regulation of private archives in the public interest: A strategic model proposal

The change of the world brings with it the development of all kinds of information sources. The archive area is also being positively affected by these changes. The archives are constantly evolving with new technologies and types of materials, and the value of the private archives collection, which is an important archive area is increasing every day. In this study, the importance of organizing private archives in Turkey from the point of view of public interest was emphasized. One of the main objectives of the study is to examine the importance of private archives in terms of developing information resources, focusing on the issue of organizing private archives that are not subject to much academic work. For this purpose, an efficient strategic model has been created. Common performance indicators have been developed based on bibliometric data belonging to publications scanned in Web of Science, Scopus and ULAKBIM TR Index databases. The study provides an effective proposal on the activity of strategically organizing private archives in Turkey under private legal conditions, taking into account the public interest.
