Abstract (EN)
The essential purpose of this study is to determine the teaching performance level of special education teachers whether demographic variables have an effect on their teaching performance. Within the scope of this study, data were collected from 354 special education teachers who have worked in fourteen provinces in Turkey. To collect the data, Demographic Information Form and Teacher Performance Evaluation Scale were applied with teachers and also the data were analyzed with descriptive statistical methods. While the lowest score obtained from the teacher performance scale was determined as 97, the highest score was 170 and the mean score was 145,84 and the standart deviation was calculated as 13,9. In the research, it was found that teaching performance level of special education teachers were above the avarage. In addition, teaching performance did not differ according to age, disability group, participation in in-service trainin organized by the Ministry of National Education and the number of participation in in-service training organized at schools where teachers work. However demographic characteristics such as genderi period of service and perticipation in in-service training at schools were found to have a meaningful and significant effect on teaching performance. The results are discussed in the framework of the literature.
