Investigating school principles conflict management strategies in terms of some variables according to instructors perceptions

This study aims to investigate teachers? perceptions of their administrators conflict management strategies and teachers working at the specil education schools of İstanbul in terms of some variables (the type of special education school, gender, education level, age, gender, length of service, marriage) and to give suggestions from this point of view. Data collecting process has two different parts: First part is based on personal knowledge about the teachers. Second part consists ?Rahim Organizationel Conflict Inventory? Survey. The study group consisted of 450 participants attending National Ministry of Education elementary schools located in Istanbul during the academic year of 2011-2012. Following results were obtained from the study, according to the teachers? perceptions, the principals use problem solving, avoiding, compromising, dominating strategies ranging from the most to the least. According to the teachers? perceptions, there are significant differences according to the type of special education school, education level and age. According to the teachers? perceptions, there is no significant difference in according to gender, length of service and marriage variable in strategy all sub-dimension.The findings of this study were discussed and suggestions for practice were provided.
