The effect of the subjective well-being increasing program on subjective and psychological well-being of adolescents having harmful habits

Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study is to investigate the effectiveness of subjective well-being increasing program on subjective and psychological well-being of adolescents having harmful habits. The research was carried out with 24 students who study at Ismail Safa Ozler Anatolian High School in Fall Semester, Çukurova, Adana. In this study which is used experimental design, Personal Information Form, Adolescent Subjective Well-Being Scale and EPOCH Scale was used to collect data. Before applying the subjective well-being increasing program, parent permission forms were taken from 201 students. Then, 44 students were approved for this research and scales were applied to these 44 students. After that, 24 of these subjects were assigned to experimental and control groups randomly. Experimental group received the subjective well-being increasing program which included 10 sessions and was designed by researcher. In spite of this, control group received no intervention. On the purpose of examining of relability of each measurements, Cronbach Alpha Test was used while Mann Whitney U and Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test was used to analyze pre-testes and post-testes of groups. Frequency tables were prepared to compare the frequency of smoking and alcohol use of the participants before and after the experiment. Results indicate that, a significant difference was found between pre-test and post-test both subjective well-being scores and psychological well-being scores of experimental group in favor of post-test scores. On the other hand, when just post-test scores were compared between experimental and control group, a significant difference existed on both subjective well-being and psychological well-being scores in favor of experimental group was seen. Although there were differences in the frequency of smoking and alcohol using of participants before and after experiment, statistically significant results were not found. Finally, the results obtained were discussed and interpreted according to background of research. Besides, suggestions were offered to future researches.
