Abstract (EN)
As a result of the indiscriminate release of wastes released as a result of various production activities in the industrialized world with increasing population and the inability to control them, the soil we feed, the water we drink, the air we breathe are polluted and at the end of the cycle, they enter our bodies and disrupt our health. In this study, it is aimed to use waste efficiently and in a way that is beneficial to the environment by ensuring that biochar production, which is a sustainable process that has been frequently used in soil improvement in recent years and increases the water retention capacity of the soil and increases its productivity, is produced from municipal park and garden wastes that do not have a certain management system. In the study, the effectiveness of biochar in remediating copper-contaminated soil with the phytoremediation method was investigated. In this way, it was aimed to establish a sustainable system by determining whether branch pruning waste, which largely goes to compost, could be used more efficiently in the soil, and to evaluate these regularly generated organic wastes with a zero waste approach and to benefit the remediation of contaminated soils. Biochar obtained from pruning wastes is planned to be produced from palm tree pruning wastes generated as a result of municipal activities, thus it is aimed to use a less costly system in combating heavy metals in soil pollution and to use organic matter in soil fertility. With this system, it will be easier to manage the branch trunk wastes and biochar will be produced and an added value will be provided to organic wastes.
