Abstract (EN)

Paracetamol is a pain reliever and antipyretic effect; is one of the most used drugs in the world in terms of being reliable, cheap and easy to reach. High doses of paracetamol cause nephrotoxicity. Caffeic Acid Phenethyl Ester (CAPE), which is one of the active components of propolis, is found in the essence of plants collected by bees. In this study, the protective effect of caffeic acid phenethyl ester (CAPE) in paracetamol-induced nephrotoxicity model in rats was investigated. In this study, 36 experimental animals were randomly selected and divided into 6 groups. These; Control, paracetamol, paracetamol + CAPE, paracetamol + NAC, CAPE and Ethanol group. The control group was fed with standard feed only. The paracetamol group was treated with 2 ml gavage at a rate of 2g / kg dissolved in distilled water. After paracetamol + CAPE group 2g / kg oral paracetemol administration, 10 microgram / kg CAPE was applied, and Paracetamol + NAC group received 140 mg / kg N-AcetylCysteine orally. After 1 hour, 2 ml paracetamol was administered at a dose of 2 g / kg. 10 micrograms / kg of CAPE alone was dissolved and intraperitoneal applied to the CAPE group. BUN and Creatinine levels of paracetamol group were significantly higher (P<0,05) than control, Paracetamol + CAPE, Paracetamol + NAC, CAPE, Ethanol groups. In addition, there was a significant decrease in antioxidant SOD, CAT and GSH levels as well as TAS (total antioxidant level) and trace element values that we analyzed, and a significant increase in TOS (total oxidant level) was observed in the paracetamol group. A significant increase (p<0,05) was also observed in paracetamol MDA and 8-OHdG. As a result of the study, it was reported that CAPE prevented kidney damage by preventing oxidative damage, accelerated treatment period and had protective effect on kidney.
