Abstract (EN)
Corrosion is the physical and chemical erosion of metals and a momentous even that can cause serious harm to humanity despite today's developing technology. To prevent these damages, application of conductive polymer coatings is very important. Nowadays, stainless steel is one of the most used metals in industrial applications due to its very high corrosion resistance. In this work, it was aimed to determine the anticorrosive properties of polymer films synthesized on the surface of 316 stainless steel by adding different amounts of ZnNiFe2O4 nanoparticles and Schiff base 2,6-di-tert-butyl-4-{(E)- [(4-hydroxyphenyl)imino]methyl}phenol (TMO) in different concentrations to the aniline derived o-aminobenzyl alcohol (ABA) monomer synthesis medium. Polymer films were synthesized in 30 segments by cyclic voltammetry (CV) technique at a scanning rate of 50 mV/s at a potential range of -0.20/1.80 V in a 0.15 M LiClO4 acetonitrile polymer coating bath. The corrosion performances of bare SS, SS/ PABA, SS/PABA-TMO, SS/PABA-NP and SS/PABA-TMO-NP electrodes were investigated using open circuit potential-time, anodic polarization, and AC impedance techniques in 3.5% NaCl solution. These results were supported by SEM and FTIR images. As a result of the study, it was observed that NP, TMO and NP-TMO added to the synthesis medium in different amounts caused the PABA polymer film structure to change and increased the corrosion protection performance. This positive improvement in corrosion behavior was attributed to the change in the homopolymer film pore structure of TMO and NP. 2021, 72 pages Keywords: corrosion, conductive polymer, Schiff base, nanoparticle, o-aminobenzyl alcohol, electropolymerization
