Developing a recreation design based on recreational resource and user researches in Payas-Iskenderun-Arsuz urban area

Public recreation opportunities have a raising effect on social life quality besides an important determinant of physical and spatial life quality of a city. Constitution of these opportunities may remain in the background causing land prices to be overvalued in rapidly-growing cities that bring in the foreground economic worries. Although public recreation opportunities are comprehensive concepts based on existing conditions and concepts on development legislations, these opportunities have been limited with active green spaces (children gardens and playgrounds) and cultural places (culture centre and library) in this study. Construction of the study; (1) Determining presence of cultural place and active green space on the neighbourhood level on the Payas-İskenderun-Arsuz urban area, (2) Relating this presence with per capita source value and distance and indexing it with the aim of identifying as a joint unit with other constituents of urban life quality (social and economic constituents) (3) Also proving of effects of unbalanced distribution to neighbourhoods of this presence, in this way identifying the level of effective public recreation opportunities, (4) Transforming reached findings to equal index curves map that identifies public recreation opportunities spatially and constituting a preliminary base for physical urban planning by use of user research results.
