Attitudes of the fourth and fifth grade elementary school students towards the implemantation of performance assignments wiith the evaluation of the views of parents

In this study, it has been aimed to investigate the performance assignment according to students? and their parents views. Four private and seven state schools formed the example of the investigation. 1023 students views were utilized in total, 288 of them were private school students and 735 of them were primary education students in their fourth and fifth year. Also views of ten parents have been taken into account in order to reveal parents views. The model of the investigation is the model of surveying. The survey used as the means of gathering data is the attitude scale associated with performance assignment, which was developed by Çakan and Akkaş(2006) and its validity and reliability has been proven. Data were gathered by the method of half-structured interview with parents. According to the data gathered from the investigation, it has been specified that students in private schools have a more positive attitude to the performance assignment than students in state schools. It has been singled out that female students have a more positive attitude to the performance assignment than male students. It has been specified that the difference between the attitude of fourth-year and fifth-year students to the performance assignment isn't meaningful. In parents opinions; it has been concluded that the performance assignment will reach its target by reducing the performance assignment to the level of the students and giving it on time. Also it is one of the findings gathered by parents interviews that the increase of the influence of the performance assignment on the academic success will source from the changes in the central exam system.Key Words: Performance assignment, attitute of students, views of parents
