Abstract (EN)

This study was conducted to examine the validity and reliability of the Turkish adaptation of the "Information Needs Scale in Percutaneous Coronary Intervention" (NPCI-10), developed by Tsoulou et al., which aims to evaluate the importance and fulfillment levels of information needs in individuals following percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Designed as a methodological study, the research was carried out between April and June 2025 through face-to-face interviews with a total of 120 patients who were hospitalized in the Coronary Intensive Care Unit of a city hospital in Istanbul and had undergone PCI. During the data collection process, the "Personal Information Form" and the "Information Needs Scale in Percutaneous Coronary Intervention" were used. Data were analyzed using IBM SPSS Statistics 27.0 and the 'lavaan' package within the R software. The content validity of the scale items was evaluated based on expert opinions from six professionals, and the Content Validity Index (CVI) was calculated for each item. The CVI values for language/expression and content appropriateness ranged between 0.83 and 1.00, while the overall CVI was found to be 0.97 for language/expression and 0.96 for content, indicating that the content validity of the scale was sufficient. Construct validity was tested using confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), and the fit indices obtained (χ²(169) = 284.92, CFI = 0.92, TLI = 0.91, RMSEA = 0.08, SRMR = 0.10) demonstrated that the model had an acceptable fit. For convergent validity, composite reliability (CR) values were calculated as 0.76 for the importance subscale and .80 for the fulfillment subscale, while discriminant validity was confirmed by the square root of the average variance extracted (AVE) being greater than the inter-factor correlations. Item-total correlation coefficients ranged from 0.405 to 0.625, all statistically significant (p < 0.001). Cronbach's alpha coefficients for internal consistency were calculated as 0.76 for the importance subscale, 0.79 for the fulfillment subscale, and 0.72 for the overall scale. These results indicate that the scale has adequate internal consistency at both the subscale and total levels. In the test-retest reliability analysis, the correlation coefficients were r = 1.000 for the importance subscale and r = 0.905 for the fulfillment subscale, supporting the temporal stability of the scale. In conclusion, the Turkish version of the NPCI-10 scale was found to be a valid and reliable assessment tool. It is considered to be a useful resource, particularly for nurses, in identifying patients' information needs during the education process.
