Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study is to examine the mediating role of feelings of inadequacy and social exclusion in the relationship between phubbing and impulsivity. For this purpose, it consists of a total of 720 students, 300 males (41.7%) and 420 females (58.3%), studying at Niğde Yunus Emre Anatolian High School, Niğde Cumhuriyet Anatolian High School, Niğde Atatürk Anatolian High School, Niğde Şehit Efe Osman Apaydın Anatolian High School and Niğde Private Final Schools. Participants were from 9th to 12th grade (S.D. = 1.06). In this study, Phubbing Scale, İnferiority Feeling Scale, Social Exclusion Scale for Adolescents, Barrat Impulsivity Scale were applied to the students. Confirmatory factor analysis was performed on the scales used. As a result of the factor analysis, it was found that the scales were valid and reliable. T-test was performed to analyze whether there was a significant difference between the variables in the study according to gender. As a result of the analysis, it was seen that the variables of phubbing, impulsivity and sense of inadequacy differed significantly according to gender, but the variable of social exclusion did not differ significantly according to gender. ANOVA test was performed to analyze whether there was a significant difference between the variables in the study according to the grade level. As a result of the analysis, it was seen that the variables of phubbing and impulsivity differed significantly according to the grade level, but the sense of social exclusion and inadequacy did not differ significantly according to the grade level. Correlation test was performed to examine the relationship between the variables in the study. As a result of the analysis, the relationship between the variables in the research is positive and significant. Mediation analysis was performed to test the mediating role of feelings of inadequacy and social exclusion in the relationship between phubbing and impulsivity. When the results of the mediation analysis were examined, it was found that the relationship between phubbing and impulsivity had a mediating role in the sense of inadequacy and social exclusion. These viii findings are discussed within the framework of the literature. The results obtained from this model can help field workers in addiction education and addiction counseling, as well as contribute to making sense of human behaviors. In addition to these, suggestions for future research in line with the results obtained from the research are presented within the scope of the research.
