Abstract (EN)
In this thesis, we will delve into the Impressionist movement that emerged 19th-century France as a significant influence on the world of art, challenging the academic principles of painting. Through this study, we will gain an understanding of the perspectives and thoughts of a group of painters who paved the way for Impressionism and explore both the variability within the Impressionist movement and the differences among the artists within the group. Despite facing numerous challenges and criticisms, this circle of artists played a crucial role in reshaping the contemporary artistic outlook and each found their own significant place in the world of art. One of these prominent figures is Pierre Auguste Renoir, who played a leading role within the group and contributed to the establishment of Impressionism as an art movemont. Focusing on Renoir's depictions of child figures, this thesis will provide insight not only into his artistic themes but also into his life, his position within Impressionism, and the internal conflicts he experlenced. Renoir, also known as a 'figure painter,' approached child figures from distinct perspectives. He continued to depict children both during his Impressionist period and later during his transition to the classical style, showcasing an unyielding dedication to portraying them. Renoir's child-related artworks hold a significant place among his body of work and are widely regarded as some of his most important creations. His deep affection for children, his portrayal of purity and simplicity through them in his paintings, and his consistent inclusion of child subjects in his oeuvre make him one of the foremost painters among Impressionists to focus on children. In conclusion, the exploration of Renoir's child-themed artworks not only sheds light on the artist's distinct affection for this subject but also underscores the significance of this theme in his overall artistic narrative.
