Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study is to examine the effects of Pilates mat exercises on some parameters of sedentary women. A total of 60 sedentary women voluntarily participated in the study; however, 10 individuals were excluded from the study as they did not meet the research criteria. A total of 50 sedentary individuals participated, consisting of 20 sedentary women in the control group, 15 sedentary women aged 45-65 in the experimental group, and 15 sedentary women aged 35-44 in the experimental group. The data obtained in the study were statistically analyzed using IBM SPSS 24.0 software. To determine the normal distribution of the data, the Shapiro-Wilk test was conducted, and the skewness and kurtosis values of the measurements were examined. MANOVA analysis was used for group comparisons. The findings of the study are as follows: Pilates exercise group of sedentary individuals aged 35-44 showed a statistically significant difference between pre-test and post-test values for weight, waist, hip, body mass index (BMI), and spinal flexion variables. However, there was no statistically significant difference between pre-test and post-test values for waist-hip ratio, static squat, and sit-up variables. Pilates exercise group of sedentary individuals aged 45-65 showed a statistically significant difference between pre-test and post-test values for weight, waist, hip, body mass index (BMI), and spinal flexion variables. However, there was no statistically significant difference between pre-test and post-test values for waist-hip ratio, static squat, and sit-up variables. The control group participants showed a statistically significant difference between pre-test and post-test values for static squat and sit-up variables. However, no statistically significant difference was found between pre-test and post-test values for weight, waist, hip, waist-hip ratio, body mass index (BMI), and spinal flexion variables. Among sedentary participants aged 35-44 in the Pilates exercise group, there was a statistically significant difference between pre-test and post-test values for right-dominant right balance and right-dominant left balance variables. However, there was no statistically significant difference between pre-test and post-test values for right-dominant back balance, left-dominant back balance, left-dominant right balance, and left-dominant left balance variables. For the Pilates exercise group of individuals aged 45-65, no statistically significant difference was found between pre-test and post-test values for right-dominant back balance, right-dominant right balance, right-dominant left balance, left-dominant back balance, left-dominant right balance, and left-dominant left balance variables. The control group participants showed a statistically significant difference between pre-test and post-test values for right-dominant left balance and left-dominant left balance variables. However, there was no statistically significant difference between pre-test and post-test values for right-dominant back balance, right-dominant right balance, left-dominant back balance, and left-dominant right balance variables. Significant differences were observed among the sedentary women aged 35-44, sedentary women aged 45-65, and the control group in terms of BMI values, waist circumference values, hip circumference values, waist-hip ratio values, static squat values, sit-up values, and right-dominant back balance values.
