Abstract (EN)

In the presented master's thesis, the production and characterization of hydroxyapatite (HAp) ceramic biomaterials, which have been very popular in recent years and used in the treatment of hard tissues such as teeth and bones, with the additive of Ag and pyrocatechol, by wet chemical method. The phase and crystal structures of the produced HAp biomaterials were investigated by XRD analysis technique, the functional groups in the structure were examined by Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, their morphology by microscopy (SEM) technique, and elemental compositions were examined with the help of energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) spectroscopy. According to the results of the study, while the crystallization percentages and lattice parameters of HAp biomaterial samples produced with Ag and pyrocatechol additives were determined, it was observed that these HAp biomaterials had similar morphologies and did not contain any residues and/or impurities in their structures. It has been determined that these produced biomaterials contain a small amount of β-TCP phases in addition to HAp. FT-IR analysis results also proved that the produced biomaterials contain OH- and PO43- groups, which are the characteristic functional groups of HAp.
