Abstract (EN)

In this study the amount of varince explained on students' well being measures by life satisfaction, general fear of failure, self-efficacy, parents' emotional support perceived by student, sense of belonging to school, teacher support perceived by student, student's experience of being bullied, and gender was studied. The economic, social and cultural status of students was also used in the analysis as the control variable. The sample of the study consists of 6,890 15-years old Turkish students who participated PISA 2018 survey. In line with the research problem, the variables predicting the well-being of adolescents were determined by using the index values in the PISA 2018 data set. Stepwise regression method was used during data analysis, and two different regression equations were interpreted. According to the first multiple regression analysis, it was found that life satisfaction, self-efficacy, parental support, teacher support, school belonging, and gender variables were significant predictors of adolescent well-being. These variables explain approximately 36% of the total variance in adolescents' well-being measures. Since the life satisfaction used in the first analysis may be correlated with some other independent varibles, a second regression model was interpreted by excluding life satisfaction. In this analysis, fear of failure and student's experience of being bullied also significantly explained the students' well being measures.
