Applicability of cold mix asphalt in rapid runway repair

Nowadays, airports are the first targets of the enemy forces in a possible war. In such a war, any damage on technical support facilities and areas used by aircrafts may be affected or even disrupt the air missions. Therefore, airports should be reactivated as soon as possible right after the damages. This means (that) runways should be repaired quickly and effectively. Selection of materials used for repair after operations is the most important issue in such a process. Production and repair techniques are also important. In Turkey like all around the world, there are many different operation techniques in use. In this thesis, proposed cold mix asphalt (ready-to be used) for runway repair has been investigated through controlling repair time as well as the effectiveness of labor. This scope of this thesis is to examine the Rapid Runway Repair (RRR) techniques which are used globally. The applicability of cold mix asphalt (ready-to be used) technology which is used in construction sector has also been investigated from the point of RRR as well as the stability values.
