Abstract (EN)

This research is a scale development study. As a result of the literature review, no scoring scale or previous studies regarding the observation and scoring of sight-reading performance in piano in Turkey were found. Due to the absence of a methodological approach in assessing musical skills and performance, and the subjective nature of performance evaluations, although there are studies abroad that focus on the development of rubrics related to sight-reading, it is considered important to develop a general analytical rubric for piano sight-reading in light of the existing literature, given the variety of these rubrics. This study aimed to develop a rubric for piano sight-reading. For this purpose, four working groups were used in the research; these are the focus group interview working group, the content validity analysis working group, the expert evaluator working group and the evaluated participants working group. In the data collection process, a focus group interview, a Lawshe validity analysis form, and a reliability analysis form were used. For data analysis, content analysis was used for the focus group interview, Lawshe content validity analysis for validity analysis, and Intraclass Correlation Coefficient (ICC) and Krippendorff's Alpha Coefficient were used for reliability analysis. As a result of the study, a "General Analytical Rubric for Piano Sight-Reading" was developed, which has established validity and reliability and can be used to assess the sight-reading performances of conservatory undergraduate piano students.
