Critical approach to a real application in the white goods industry with pmi methodology

Project management is one of the most widespread management systems worldwide. Within the scope of project management, there are basic components of time, cost and quality. The project needs to be managed with a disciplined approach within the framework of these components and scope. Therefore, project management has an important and guiding role. In the implementation of project management, companies have project management methodologies developed according to their own dynamics. However, there are organizations whose aim is to improve their project management activities around the world and which offer non-profit project management standards. Some of them are Project Management Association of Japan (PMAJ), Projects in Controlled Environments (PRINCE2), International Project Management Association (IPMA), Association for Project Management (APM). However, the most accepted project management methodology worldwide was created by the Project Management Institute (PMI). PMI has gathered project management processes in ten different knowledge areas. It provides a foundation for all types of projects and organizations wishing to implement project management with these knowledge areas. Organizations can adapt these standards to their own projects and operations. One of the project-based sectors is the white goods sector. In this thesis, project management in a real white goods company is discussed. With the development of technology, users have sought products with different functions or aesthetics. In order to meet these demands of the market, many projects are emerging in the sector. With the excess of projects, the competition between companies has increased. The way to success in offering better quality products to the market in a shorter time is to apply the project management methodology in the most accurate way. In this thesis, the project v management system of an international white goods company was examined with the PMI methodology and it was aimed to improve the company's project management system. The project management team strives to implement PMI standards. In this thesis study, it has been examined whether the company fully implements the PMI standards. In summary, the organization agrees that if the PMI standards are fully implemented in the projects, it will contribute positively to the projects in terms of time, cost and efficiency.
