A validitiy and relaibity of Turkish adaptation of health-related quality of life questionnaire-50 for polycystic ovary syndrome

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS); which is observed widely common endocrine disorder in society and caused clinical syndromes such as obesity, insulin resistance, hirsutism and hyperandrogenism in adolescence and young women which has important effect on women's quality of life. The aim of this study was to research validity and reliabity of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome Questionnaire-50 (PCOSQ-50) scale by determining PCOS's effect on woman's quality of life. This study was performed in 250 women with PCOS whom visited Atatürk Education and Research Hospital Gynecology and Obstetrics Clinic with Ankara Yildirim Beyazit University Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Clinic. Participant's physical, sociodemographic data and information about PCOS are noted. The patients are asked to fill SF-36 (Short Form- 36) questionnaire and PCOSQ-50 scale which was developed for PCOS. First of all, face validity of questioannarie which translation and cultural adoptation was made, was evaluated, after that pilot study was done. Short Form-36 (SF-36) was used for criterion validity of questionnaire. Reliabity was determined by methods of interval Consistency and test-retest. As a conculusion, internal consistency coefficient of PCOSQ-50 scale (Cronbach alfa) 0.972, internal consistency coefficient of subscales which shows an alteration between 0.956 and 0.977 was determined. Furthermore; statistical significance was determined between PCOSQ-50 scale and SF-36 scale. It was concluded that the Turkish version of PCOSQ-50 scale has high incidence of validity and reliabity for Turkish society.
