In this study, we have tried to unravel the link between the policies of Turkification and the primitive accumulation of Turkish Muslims by dispossession of non-Muslim minorities by focusing on Edirne from the beginning of the 20th century to 1970. The happenings in Edirne were a small, unique example of national identity and economic policies. Our study highlights the continuity of economic, social and identity policies in the transition from the Ottoman Empire to the Republic of Turkey. The policies of the Turkish state are based on two pillars about the creation of the capitalist nation-state: One of them was to clean the non-Muslim minorities of the country. The other was to form a class which is based on the Turkish state could rely, and could support the economy when it is necessary. However, since there was not enough capital to create a class of the Turkish-Muslim bourgeoisie, Turkish Muslims trio tried to obtain their primitive accumulation by dispossession non-Muslims. According to this, the first step was « the deportation of the Armenians » and the expulsion and the forced migration of the Rums. Then, the Expulsion of the Jews from Thrace has followed this. Subsequently, the process of the primitive accumulation of the Turkish Muslims by dispossession of the non-Muslims and the Turkification of the capital was practiced once again by the application of the Wealth Tax. Finally, the activities of Edirne Office of the Association for Struggle Against Zionism in Turkey forced the remaining Jews to leave Edirne.
