Abstract (EN)
The ground mosaic found in the villa structure in the ancient city of Pompeiopolis was revealed during the excavations of 2018. Protection and repair works on the mosaic were carried out in 2024. In this period, the mosaic has suffered a lot of damage due to the lack of necessary measures. Rainfall and sudden temperature changes are the main causes of these destruction. These destruction are classified as structural and superficial deterioration. In particular, as a result of the structural deterioration that has occurred, it has been removed to ensure the protection of the floor mosaic on the new carrier floor and the protection of in situ has come to the agenda. Since the mosaic has geometric decoration, it was decided to be divided into pieces and removed. The ground mosaic divided into 33 pieces was moved to the warehouse of the excavation and the necessary repair works were carried out, then transferred to the new carrier floor and placed in the situ positions. Each stage in repair works is documented in detail. In order to ensure the continuity of the studies, the proposed exhibition and maintenance studies were stated for the mosaic.
