Weeds and their relation to mealybug species in orange orchards

Abstract (EN)

This project was conducted in six orange orchards in the Adana province in 2015-2016. Weed species, their densities, growth stages and mealybug species of them, were determined. Five mealybug species were found on 25 weed species belongs to 14 plant families in citrus orchards. The most important mealybug species in citrus plantation; Citrus mealybug, Planococcus citri (Risso) was found on Common mallow (Malva sylvestris L., Redroot pigweed (Amaranthus retroflexus L.), Common purslane (Portulaca oleracea L.), Crimson clover (Trifolium incarnatum L.), Black nightshade (Solanum nigrum L.), Toadflax (Linaria sp.). The other mealybug species: Chorizococcus sp., Peliococcus turanicus (Kiritshenko), Phenacoccus solani (Ferris), Phenacoccus solenopsis (Tinsley).
