Science fiction novel in Turkish literature in the context of posthumanism

The human-technology relationship, which can be seen as an ancient relationship, constitutes one of the most dominant aspects of the human evolutionary process. It is seen that human beings frequently resort to technology in order to ensure the continuation of their species and to create the lifestyle they desire. The human-technology relationship, which gained a different dimension with the Industrial Revolution, is developing in an unpredictable direction, especially with the technological breakthroughs experienced in the XXI century. An order in which human beings position themselves at the center and marginalize everything other than their ideal human being is becoming one of the most discussed issues of the XXI century. The increasing marginalization, especially through technology, and the strengthening of the concept of the human at the center have brought many problems to the agenda. Posthumanism, first used by Ihab Hassan in 1977, takes these problems into its agenda and criticizes Western liberal humanism, the contemporary form of humanism. This theory, which problematizes the central position of the human being and argues that this position should be abandoned, is fed by many different disciplines and approaches. In this respect, posthumanism, which can be considered as an umbrella philosophy, emphasizes that the whole world needs a new human concept based on postfeminism, postcolonialism, eco-criticism, biopolitics and biopower approaches. The relationship between posthumanism and technology has found its place in Turkish literature, especially in science fiction genre works, as in recent world literature. The science fiction genre, which has been enriched by the developing technology and has increased in terms of the number of works, has become an important field for researchers to examine the arguments of posthumanism. The fact that no study on the theory of posthumanism has been conducted in the field of Turkish literature before constitutes one of the main motivations of this study. The study consists of three parts in total and in the first part, the theory of posthumanism is tried to be explained in historical processes. In the second part, the science fiction genre is discussed and the historical development of the genre as well as the characteristics and subgenres of the genre are mentioned. In the third and final part, the traces of posthumanism in recent science fiction works in Turkish literature are searched.
