Abstract (EN)

Postmodernism is a movement that emerged as the result of the post-19th century artist?s search for difference and innovation. This attempt of change in art has been continued since then. Being an uprising against uniform structure of Modernism that emerged with industrialization and urbanization process after World War II, this movement followed a way toward referring to the old and adding new interpretation to this. The postmodern attitude which also acquired dimension in plastic arts found a new soul by meeting with new contemporary interpretation. After being accepted as a branch of art, ceramic material was influenced by postmodern movement as an expression tool and a lot of conceptual works was produced.For this study titled "Influence of Postmodernism on Ceramic Art", impact of Postmodernist movement on ceramic art and its direction from post-1960 to present was studied. Also it was reasearched the general Postmodernism concept together with the reasons that lead to emergence of it and the situation it created in social, intellectual and artictic sense.In the study, the interaction between Postmodernist approaches and its effects on art in terms of economics, politics and cultural life was studied as well as the qualification of the late postmodern ceramic works, material usage and contributions to the today?s art, being classified in figurative, abstract and minimal sense. The results of the research established a ground for an exhibition in which the arrangements that referred to modern art and today?s populism took part.Key wordsPostmodernism, Post Minimalism, Modernism, Ceramic, Pop Art, Art
