The relationship between emotional intelligence, presenteeism and psyhcological contract: An application in Gaziantep University

From the 1970's to the present studies have shown that cognitive intelligence (IQ), is not effective on both person's life succes or organizational succes all alone. Researches show that emotional intelligence is a determinant of high performance alongside cognitive intelligence. The terms related to emotional intelligence such as presenteeism and psychological have started to find more places on the agenda with emotional intelligence's came to the fore. With this research it is aimed to investigate the effect of presenteeism and psychological contract on emotional intelligence. Research was performed by using survey method on academics whom work at Gaziantep University. Hypotheses of research was tested by "Mann-Whitney U, Kruskal Wallis Correlation and Regression" analysis on the data obtained by the survey via "SPSS 17,0" statistical software package. As a result of analysis it was concluded that there is a positive relationship between emotional intelligence-presenteeism and emotional intelligence- psychological contract and research model was significant. But it was not observed disparity between demographic data and emotional intelligence, presenteeism, psychological contract concepts which discussed in the paper.
