Abstract (EN)

The study aims to examine the effect of the Prosocial Support Training Program developed for families with children in primary school on the prosociality levels of children and parents. The research was carried out in Ağrı City Center with families whose children attend primary school in the spring term of 2021-2022. Embedded Design, one of the mixed methods, was used in the research. Focus group interviews were conducted before and after the program. The quantitative pattern is planned as a semi-experimental pattern with a pre-test and a post-test control group. The sample of the study consisted of 73 people, including 16 parents and 17 children in the experimental group, and 20 parents and 20 children in the control group. The "Prosocial Support Training Program (Pro-STP)" was applied to the families in the experimental group online for ten weeks, one day a week every week. No intervention was made to the families in the control group. The prosocial levels of the children were evaluated using the "Child Prosociality Scale: Child Form" and "Child Prosociality Scale: Mother-Father-Teacher Form", and the prosocial levels of the parents were evaluated using the "Adult Prosociality Scale". Mann Whitney U Test was used for the comparison of independent groups and the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test was used for the comparison of dependent groups by taking the significance level p<0.05. The effect sizes of the groups with significant differences were calculated using Cliff's Delta. According to the results obtained, it was concluded that the educational program applied had a positive effect on the participants, their spouses, and their children in the experimental group at the level of moderate impact. Participants also have the opinion that prosocial skills increase in themselves, their spouses and children after the implementation of the program and that Pro-DEP is effective.
