Abstract (EN)

Individuals often have certain skills in their toolboxes that they must have in the face of problems that they have to deal with. One of these skills is psychological flexibility. As a matter of fact, the aim of this research is to examine the relationships between psychological flexibility and self-compassion, forgiveness, and solitude. In this context, the Personal Information Form, Psychological Flexibility Scale (Karakuş & Akbay, 2020), Self-Compassion Scale (Akın, Akın, & Abacı, 2007), Forgiveness Scale (Ersanli & Batik, 2015) and Motivation to Be Alone Scale-Short Form (Yazıcı, Altun Kobul, & Özyazıcı Kuzur, 2022) were used to collect data. Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient Analysis was used to test the relationship between psychological flexibility and self-compassion, self-forgiveness and forgiveness of others, preferred solitude and non-preferred solitude. Multiple Linear Regression Analysis was conducted to determine the extent to which psychological flexibility was predicted. Independent Samples T-test was used to determine whether all variables differed according to gender. As a result of the research, psychological flexibility was found to be moderately positively correlated with self-compassion (r=.683, p<.01) and self-forgiveness (r=.579, p<.01); however, there was no correlation between them and forgiveness of others scores (r=.031, p>.05). At the same time, it was found that there was a low level positive correlation with preferred solitude (r=.241, p<.01), and a moderate level negative correlation with non-preferred solitude (r=-.492, p<.01). According to the regression analysis results, it was seen that all variables explained 54% of psychological flexibility (R=.73, F(5-494)=115.49, p<.001). In addition, it was found that all variables except self-compassion did not change according to gender.
