Abstract (EN)

The cancer occurs when homeostasis between cell proliferation and apoptosis is broken down. When apoptotic mechanism which stabilizes this homeostasis has stopped or decreased, cell division without control has started. Nowadays therapy and support have been enabled with herbal products for cancer disease. However, it has been reported that antioxidant activity of Pistacia vera L. seed and testa which is one of the most important products for our country had been shown, the view is appeared that P. vera L. gets involved among protective products against to cancer. Therefore, we studied the phytochemical substituents, antioxidant capacity, DNA protective effect, in addititon to antitumoural and apoptotic activity which has been no report related with of P. vera L. which is a trend symbol of our city. As a result, P. vera L. testa methanolic extract was evaluated to have the best activity among studied extracts in this study which studied some of biological activities of P. vera L. seed and testa. We thought that testa included one or more biological active substituents which were worth the effort to investigate. The isolation of active substituents in P. vera L. testa methanolic extract and evaluation of their activities in the manner of dose response individually are necessary to support our results. For this purpose, we suggest that the biological activities of active ingredients should evaluate by same techniques and also on the other cell lines and in vivo modeling in the future.
