Abstract (EN)

In this study, Cyprinus carpio species specimens brought from The Mediterranean Fisheries Research, Production and Training Institute (Kepez, Antalya) with 11.49±0.24 cm length and 21.77±1.29 g weight were exposed to 10 mg/L Boron (B) after 30 days of acclimation. After the 30 days of boron exposure, the boron bioaccumulation, the antioxidant enzymes such as catalase (CAT), carbonic anhydrase (CA) and glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G-6-PD) enzyme activities and a lipid peroxidation product called malondialdehyde (MDA) levels in different tissues of Cyprinus carpio were investigated. At the end of study, with the exceptions of the CAT, G-6-PD activities and MDA levels of skin, CA activity of muscle and MDA level of eye tissues, the enzyme activities of other tissues were not affected at important levels. The oxidative stress dependent damage in the fishes exposed to 10 mg/L boron concentration was not so high. However, the boron bioaccumulation levels in different tissues of fish exposed to 10 mg/L Boron were higher compared to bioaccumulation of control group but without statistical importance. Keywords: Boron, bioaccumulation, Cyprinus carpio, enzyme activity.
