Abstract (EN)

In this thesis, Quentin Meillassoux' – a contemporary French philosopher – idea of absolute in the context of his speculative philosophy will be evaluated. My main argument is that Meillasosux' critique of post-modern philosophy should be understood as relying on a fanaticism crisis arising from the relationship between the idea of finitude in Post-Kantian philosophy and principle of sufficient-reason which is the fundamental principle of metaphysics; accordingly, I argue, Meillassoux claims to demonstrate the idea of absolute within to scope of thought, as radical contingency. For Meillassoux, non-metaphysical speculative philosophy that is able to overcome this fanaticism crisis can only be possible through absolutizing the idea of facticity in correlationist philosophy. In this respect, he represents a principle of un-reason as replacement for sufficient reason, indicating that everything is factual except this facticity itself, everything is contingent except this contingency itself. In this respect, first chapter will be covering main concepts of Meillassoux' thought and his critique of contemporary philosophy with regard to sufficient-reason. In the second chapter, I will be analyzing Meillassoux's argument for principle of un-reason and theoretical results derived from this chaotic-absolute. In the last chapter, it will be argued that the idea of absolute contingency aims an ontologization of Hume's epistemological scepticism and tries to ground the mathematizable aspect of nature as in-itself through this ontology.
