The analysis of tuba solos in the orchestra works: R. Wagner "Overture of Master Singers of Nuremberg", H. Berlioz "Fantastic Symphony Op.14", M. Mussorgsky "Pictures at an Exhibition" and S. Prokofiev "Symphony No.5 Op.100"

Important works in this impressive tuba orchestral repertoire have been identified, studied and researched. Richard Wagner's "Overture of Master Singers of Nuremberg", Hektor Berlioz's "Fantastic Symphony", Mussorgsky's "Pictures at an Exhibition" and Prokofiev's "Symphony No.5 op.100" are observed by also taking into consideration of the lives of the composers as well as the condition of the period. The motivation lie behind the choice of these works is that the solos in these works are often performed in the selection exams held not only in Turkey but also all around the world. The information regarding the life of the composers, their sense of art, their work and the characteristics of their composition are presented through conducted researches. Furthermore, playing suggestions and etudes for their performances are given by this research as a result of the examination carried out on the tuba parties of the works in technical and musical aspect. It is considered that this study will benefit literature as for the performers who recently play tuba and intend to study in this field. As a result of the research, since no academic study in Turkish about the tuba orchestra repertoire has been encountered, it is aspired by this work text to be a useful resource.
