Abstract (EN)

In this study, the increase or decrease in the amount of heavy metals and trace elements (Zn, Fe, Mn, Mg, Cu, Cd, Co and Pb) found in the blood of X-ray personnel in radiology were compared with the values in the blood of healthy individuals. Evaluated in terms of occupational safety. The study was conducted in 2019 with the staff of Radiology Department of Van Yüzüncü Yıl University Dursun Odabaş Training and Research Hospital. The study was carried out by comparing blood samples taken from 31 staff working in radiology unit and 32 healthy individuals. After a fasting period of twelve hours, blood samples were collected in the morning and centrifuged at 3000 rpm for 10 minutes and separated from serum cells. -80 warehouses stored. During the study, serum was taken from -80 and brought to room temperature. The elements were determined by Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer in Van Yüzüncü Yıl University Central Research Laboratory. At the end of the study, Zn, Fe, Cu, Mg levels were low and Cd and Pb levels were higher than the control group. In addition, Mn and Co levels did not make a statistically significant difference between the groups. Informing and raising awareness of radiology employees about radiation safety is very important for employee safety. In this context, protection and security methods should be developed.
