Abstract (EN)

Today, occupational professionalism and job satisfaction have an important place in education as in all sectors. Teachers' occupational professionalism and job satisfaction are important factors that increase the quality of education. It is thought that occupational professionalism affects job satisfaction and job satisfaction also affects occupational professionalism. In this context, the purpose of this study is to reveal the relationship between English teachers' occupational professionalism and job satisfaction. The research sample consists of 150 English teachers working at different schools in Kilis province. In this study, quantitative and qualitative research methods were used together and thus mixed design was preferred. Two scales were used to obtain quantitative data which were Occupational Professionalism of Teachers Scale and Teacher Job Satisfaction Scale. SPSS Statistics 23 was used to analyze the data obtained through the questionnaire. Means, standard deviations, percentages and frequencies were calculated through this program. Spearman's rho correlation coefficient was used to examine the relationship between occupational professionalism and job satisfaction. In addition, one-way ANOVA and Kruskal Wallis H test were used to find out whether the occupational professionalism and job satisfaction of English teachers differ according to demographic characteristics. In the qualitative dimension of the study, interviews were conducted with 15 teachers according to the scale scores among the English teachers who participated in the survey. The findings showed that English teachers' occupational professionalism level is high and their job satisfaction level is medium. Besides, a significant positive relationship was found between the occupational professionalism of English teachers and their job satisfaction. Based on the demographic characteristics of the participants, there was no significant difference between their occupational professionalism and job satisfaction. Finally, the results obtained from the interviews with the teachers also support the quantitative results.
