Abstract (EN)
The outbreak of the First World War has had a huge impact from 1914 to the present day, and since then the impacts of the war have been discussed and analyzed by historians, researchers, theorists, and thinkers throughout history. In particular, the physical and mental effects of the consequences of the First World War on humanity have been defined by the researchers. The war poems written during wartime can be considered historical research. In particular, the poems of Wilfred Owen and Siegfried Sassoon have come to the forefront from past to present. The poems of Owen and Sassoon have made a great contribution to British Literature and History in terms of expressing the realities of war as a literary work. Their poems carry the marks of the pain of everything lost in the war. The two prominent themes in the poetry of Owen and Sassoon are physical pain and mental pain, which would turn into suffering over time. Thus, physical and mental pain is reflected in the poems of Owen and Sassoon related to the sense of loss by impressing each other mutually. This study will attempt to enlighten how and in what ways the pain and suffering caused by the First World War affected the bodies and minds of the soldiers by analyzing selected poems of Owen and Sassoon.
