The space fact in painting art(The D painters in terms of space in Turkish painting art)

While discussing the historical development of painting art, the space fact appears in every period. We see that the development of the space has been interpreted in different ways. The belief intensive space fact in works of art in Egyptian civilization extending over 4500 B.C. has gained a different viewpoint in Greek art and also another different viewpoint in Middle Ages. While the space has been proceeding through scientificness in Renaissance art, it has lost affect in Modern period art. The space fact in painting art is a characteristic of painting which can be approached stylistically and we also see that it is a subject of study in point of its relation with apparent thoughts and aspects. This study named The Space Fact In Painting Art (The Group D Painters In Terms Of Space In Turkish Painting Art) has been done as a literature search and we have done it because of the idea that it would be important to search the "Space" fact in art and associate it with group D painters who bring the current art movements from the west to the Turkish painting art. Visual and written sources have been used for this study. The main starting point of the study is approaching to the subject in parallel with artistic, social, technical, intellectual etc. factors and evaluating the works of group D painters in Turkish Painting Art by analysing in the point of space. While doing this research, the definition of the problem has been done and the purpose, importance, extent and method of the study has been explained in the opening chapter of the thesis. In the second chapter, there has been the conceptual framework. In the first subtitle, the concepts of art and space has been approached and the existence struggle of space in the painting art has been studied. In the second subtitle, the art elements which affect the concept of space has been approached and it has been mentioned about their contribution to the formation of space in painting art. In the third subtitle, the statements of the art principles has been maden which affect the space fact in the painting art. In the fourth subtitle, the historical development of the space fact in painting art has been searched and the struggles of space fact has been studied according to its periods. In the fifth subtitle, the space fact in Turkish painting art in the westernization period has been scrutinised and within the conceptual framework the preparer factors of the formation of space fact in painting art have been studied in accordance with the economic, socio-cultural and industrial developments in our country and in the world. In the sixth subtitle, the works of painters from group D, the main problem of the study, has been studied in the aspect of space fact; this group has been founded as a result of westernization period activities which can be considered as a breaking point in Turkish Painting Art. In the seventh subtitle, it has been allowed for the researches similar to the thesis we study on. In the third chapter of the thesis, all the chapters have been studied by doing an overview and allowing result and suggestions. As a result of our study; the space fact has been remained on the agenda in every period of art history. While the group D, has been founded in accordance with the westernization movements in the Turkish painting art, has been continuing self-realization, they have been searching for the space fact in Cubist and Constructivist movements. It has been seen that these movements which have kept away from the space concept of Renaissance and has tended towards planation in painting. The group D painters who tries to keep the same way have pushed the scientific perspective into the background which was foremost for Renaissance and they have tended towards constituting space in abstract practices and compositions in which the two dimensionality is dominant. The source of inspiration of group D has not been only the west while tending towards two dimensional compositions. The Turkish traditional arts have been a source of inspiration with their two dimensional characteristics. Key Words Space, Space In Painting Art, Group D.
