Abstract (EN)

Turkey is a country with a high level of earthquake risk due to its location on active fault lines. This risk necessitates the implementation of scientifically.based analyses, particularly in ensuring structural safety. Although detailed engineering analyses can be conducted to evaluate the seismic performance of buildings, such studies require significant time and financial resources. Therefore, rapid and practical assessment methods present an important alternative for the preliminary evaluation of structural safety. This study aims to assess the earthquake risk of buildings constructed before 1999 in the central district of Düzce, which was affected by both the November 12, 1999 Düzce Earthquake and the November 23, 2022 Düzce Earthquake. The investigation will be carried out on approximately 30 buildings located in neighborhoods where the old building stock is densely present. In the study, two rapid assessment methods, AURAP and P25, will be utilized. The AURAP method evaluates the risk level by considering ground, foundation, and structural system characteristics collectively; while the P25 method, developed within the scope of a TÜBİTAK.supported project, provides a more comprehensive analysis by including various parameters such as structural system organization, material properties, and irregularities. In both methods, structural characteristics such as construction year, number of stories, ground condition, foundation type, structural system layout, reinforcement details, short columns, and mezzanine floors are taken into account in the risk analysis. The results obtained will be evaluated through a comparison of the AURAP and P25 methods, revealing the similarities and differences between the two approaches. As a result, this study to be conducted in Düzce will yield scientific data on structural risk analysis and contribute to sustainable urban planning in terms of earthquake safety. The comparative application of modern methods such as AURAP and P25 will serve as a significant step in both testing the effectiveness of the methods and identifying region.specific risk factors.
