Abstract (EN)

The Role of Xenoestrogens (Parabens) in Endometrial Carcinoma. Aim: In this study we aimed to evaluate the concentrations of five paraben molecules (Methylparaben, Ethylparaben, N-Propylparaben, Benzylparaben, İsobutylparaben+N-Butylparaben) in endometrial and myometrial tissue samples of patients diagnosed with endometrial carcinoma and benign gynecologic diseases. Material and Methods: There were 88 patient in total and chemical analysis was performed for 176 tissue samples. There were 33 patient with the diagnosis of endometrial carcinoma and 6 patient with the diagnosis of endometrial intraepithelial neoplasia in study group and 49 patient in control group. We collected one endometrial and one myometrial tissue sample from each patient. Analysis was performed using Ultrahigh performance liquid chromatography and tandem mass spectrometry (UHPLC-MS/MS). Results: At least one paraben molecule was detected in 23.07% (9/39) of the patient in study group, and 2.04% (1/49) of the patient in control group and the difference between groups was statistically significant (p= .002). N- Propylparaben and İsobutyl+ N-Butylparaben were the most frequently detected (in 7/10 of the samples) paraben molecules in this study. There were no statistically significant difference regarding tumoral features (tumor diameter, myometrial invasion, architectural grade, nucleer grade, lymphovascular space invasion and tumor stage) between groups of paraben detected and nondetected endometrial carcinoma. Conclusion: Paraben molecules were more frequently detected in endometrial carcinoma tissue samples than normal endometrium
