The effect of self-efficiency in romantic relationships on marriage quality and romantic jealousy

Self-efficacy is a subjective assessment of one's knowledge, skills and capacity. Self-efficacy plays a mediating role in the realization of behavior. People who find themselves sufficient are more satisfied with their marriage. Jealousy of people towards their partners can be caused by feelings of inadequacy. This research aims to examine the effect of self-efficacy in romantic relationships on marital quality and romantic jealousy. The universe of the research consists of married health personnel working in Istanbul Fatih Sultan Mehmet Eğitim ve Araştırma Hastanesi. The study was carried out with a total of 143 participant (106 women and 37 man). Participants filled out sociodemographic information form, Self-efficacy in romantic relationships Scale, Marital qualit scale and romantic jealousy scale. According to the results of the correlation analysis, no significant relationship was found between marital quality and romantic jealousy (r=.078; p>.05), and between self-efficacy and romantic jealousy in romantic relationships (r=-.065; p>.05). A moderately positive (r= .423; p <.001) relationship was found between self-efficacy and marital quality in romantic relationships. As self-efficacy in romantic relationships increases, the quality of marriage also increases. Self-efficacy in romantic relationships explains 18% of marital quality (R = ,423, R² = ,179, F= 136,46, p <,05). People with high self-efficacy have high marital quality.
