Abstract (EN)

Being This study aims to examine the cloud motifs in the tile decorations of the Rüstem Paşa Mosque, one of the important works of the Ottoman Classical Period architecture. In this mosque, which reflects Mimar Sinan's aesthetic and engineering knowledge, the historical, aesthetic and symbolic features of the cloud motif in the context of tile art, an important element of Traditional Turkish Arts, are discussed in detail. In the research, the origin of the cloud motif, its pattern and composition features and its place in tile art were evaluated by conducting a literature review. The design details, color usage and symmetrical arrangements of the cloud motifs used in the tiles of the Rüstem Paşa Mosque were analyzed in relation to the artistic understanding of the period. The findings reveal that the cloud motif is not only a decorative element, but also an element that reflects its aesthetic and symbolic values in traditional arts. This thesis aims to provide a comprehensive perspective on the cloud motif in the tiles of the Rüstem Paşa Mosque and shed light on its importance. In this context, its contributions to the artistic understanding of the period are evaluated. Ke Rustem Pasha Mosque, Mimar Sinan, Tiles, Cloud, Motif.
