By means of these saggar boxes, ceramic surfaces were protected from the flame, dust, fire and smoke. In this was high qualified celadon wares have been possible to be produced. Concerning artistic meaning, saggar refers a reduction firing technique, that's carried out in close boxes, directly reacting ceramic with flamable materials, fire, smoke. During the process of firing, variable colour effects can be obtained without the use of glaze. In the first chapter of this research, the explanation and the history of saggar firing, the ceramic artists using the technique of saggar firing take place. The second chapter consists of the methods used in the saggar firing technique, preparing the forms to be used during the firing, producing ceramic boxes suitable for the prepared forms, supplementary elements, firing techniques and kilns.
